The Live Oak is a Texas native and is a very strong beautiful tree with a wide stretching canopy.  Live oaks are great at adapting to different types of soils and tolerates drought.  An amazing shade tree with small green leathery elliptical leaves that may shed in the spring but quickly grow back. The bark on the oak tree matures going from a young smooth light grey bark to dark grey with ridges and furrows, which give the tree an interesting texture.
